Yamaha RX-135 (Meet the tuners 2 stroke)

Hi i’m naveen i’m gonna tell you about the legendary bike which I drove for a week the Yamaha RX 135. It has two types of variants 4-speed and 5-speed ,one goes about 125 kmph when redlined and the other does 140 kmph(stock) . This bike can beat Ninja 300 on 2nd level porting without any doubt. It also a great copatator  for the Suzuki shogun.

Launched in 1990. RX 135 is not in production now.

RX-135 is not just an ordinary motorcycle for the petrol-heads in India. It has been considered as a priced possession or a true collector’s item for years. It was launched in India from 1995 under the banner of Yamaha Escorts group. This bike was also known as RX-King or RX-K in India and other South-East Asian countries.

This motorcycle uses the same engine once featured in RX-G, which was a failed model from Yamaha after the success of RX-100. The RX-135 has both 4-speed and 5-speed transmission box. This 2-stroke bike is capable of producing 14 bhp power @ 7500 rpm which was the best in class. Braking system of RX-135 comprises of normal drum brakes with 130 mm diameter for the front and rear wheels. It uses a telescopic oil damped suspension at the front and hydraulic shock absorbers with swing arm the rear.

The two-wheeler weighs around a 100 kg with a wheelbase of 1240mm and fuel tank capacity of 10.5 litres.

The RX-135 was renowned for its low resonating exhaust pipe and very subdued sound. This was because of the strict emission norms. As it uses a two-stroke petrol engine, RX-135 faced many challenges in all the countries, including India due to the air and sound pollution it caused. Due to this scenario, the company stopped the production from the year 2005.

RX-135 is nowadays very popular motorcycle in second hand sale market. Not only that these are very common in dirt and beach bike races.
